PLAYING THE GAME
Table tennis is a wonderful game to play, and even quite interesting to watch. You can play singles or doubles, either enjoying one on one , or two on two, both having varied strategies. Equipment in this game becomes more important, when your level of play rises above the recreational level. A paddle and rubber combination, should be chosen, to compliment your style of play. The footwork for singles play, is a lot different then doubles play, and some of the rules are different as well. Table tennis can be a lot of fun, and it has proven to be a great way to get exercise. Table tennis played at a high level, can combine speed, skill, and most important knowledge of the game. The most important knowledge, is understanding spin, and your opponents style of play, as well as how you can implement your game plan, to be successful. In my opinion, there are three levels or preferences in playing table tennis. There is the recreational player that plays the game for fun, and the enjoyment value it has. Then there is the intermediate player that practices , and wishes to get better by practicing and playing often. The serious player can get better, depending on there willingness to make changes in their game, and if needed their equipment. The third level of preference would be to seek help and advice to make permanent changes. I had made the reference as the willingness to make changes, as changes can be tough for players who feel comfortable with there existing game. So, what is being said is, its a choice, or maybe even a sacrifice to make such changes. This is a great game, but I do believe that ,the more knowledge you obtain, the more you will enjoy this game. I am always seeking knowledge and challenges , and information concerning this game, as well as coaching and spreading the word about this great game!
